Tuesdays at the O.T.

Keith Bergman is a former rock band drummer who is now a stand up comic. Keith created a weekly stand up comedy show in Toledo, Ohio and asked me to create a poster inspired by the cover to the classic Black Sabbath album, Vol. 4, which featured an iconic, high-contrast image of Ozzy Osbourne with his arms in the air in yellow on a black background.

Keith loved the image so much he has used it for the cover of his own comedy album as well as putting the image on an embroidered patch.

Flocking Fabulous

I was asked to create a logo for a Paparazzi Jewelry agent. I illustrated the flamingos from a sketch the client provided and created the logo and business card as well as social media images. I even created patterns that could be used in various applications.

Rupert’s Sunday Standup

The host of a weekly stand up comedy show in Kalamazoo, Michigan hired me to create a poster that could be placed inside the bar to let their patrons know about the show and on the Facebook pages for the venue and the show. The bar’s only logo was a very simple drawing of the owner’s giant Great Dane which I redrew and incorporated into an homage to the classic RCA “His Master’s Voice” logo. The white circle is meant to mimic a spotlight and a subtle pattern was used in the background which is based on a Victorian motif that brings a sense of the history of the building which is an iconic landmark in Kalamazoo.

Szar and Sons Bear Removal

As a traveling stand up comedian, Mike Szar needed merchandise to sell after shows to supplement his income. Based on one of his comedy bits, the image was inspired by the “Vault Boy” character in the video game series “Fallout.” I used a distressed texture and type that would appear like this shirt was vintage and create an ironic, hipster feel to it. The client was very pleased with the result and has moved to New York to pursue his comedy career.

The Walldorff Brewpub & Bistro

The Walldorff Brewpub & Bistro in Hastings, Michigan usually handles their design work in-house but when they need something beyond the capabilities of their marketing team they contact me. These are a few of the projects I have worked on with them over the past several years.
